For outstanding impact, the coin is made with an extra-deep blank to accommodate its superbly detailed high relief depiction of a kookaburra perched on a tree branch with gum leaves.  The design includes the inscription AUSTRALIAN KOOKABURRA, The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark and the 2012 year-date.
Australian Legal Tender
Issued as legal tender under the Australian Currency Act 1965, the coin depicts the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the obverse.
